The Vale dos Vinhedos is a tourist route located in the Region of the Uva and Wine, in the Serra Gaúcha, and goes through three cities: Bento Gonçalves, Garibaldi and Monte Belo do Sul. It is also the first region of the country to be officially recognized as a Geographical Indication, D.O Vale dos Vinhedos.

Famous for the elaboration of wines and sparkling wines, it has breathtaking natural landscapes. The Vale dos Vinhedos is made up of hills covered by araucarias and platanos, in addition to the large areas filled with parreirais. It is no wonder that the Vale dos Vinhedos is often called the Brazilian Tuscany.

For much of the tourists, Serra Gaúcha immediately refers to the cities Gramado and Canela, but Italian immigration has built one of the country's largest enoturistic destinations, which is also a symbol of Serra Gaúcha and concentrates large wineries, restaurants and lodgings for you to put on your itinerary.

Denomination of origin Vale dos Vinhedos (D.O.V.V.)

The Vale dos Vinhedos was the first region of Brazil to receive a classification of Wine Origin Denomination. According to the D.O. standards, all grape production and wine processing must be carried out within the delimited region.

The wines certified by D.O. Vale dos Vinhedos have specific analytical and sensorial characteristics of the region and have their marketing authorized only after obtaining from the Regulatory Council of D.O. a certificate of conformity with the requirements set out in Regulation.

The norms also bring specific requirements for the cultivation of vineyards, productivity limits, in addition to determining the qualities of grapes for vinification of red, white and sparkling wines.

How to get there

The region is about 120km from the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, and it is possible to access by car, bus or plane, with landing closer to the airports of Porto Alegre and Caxias do Sul. And its distance from Gramado and Canela is just over 100km.

When I go

If you want to have the chance to see snow and like the cold weather and fireplace go in the winter. If the idea is to escape the high season and find tranquility with days of mild weather, retire in the months of the half-station.

And if you want to see the grape-loaded parriculars and want to live experiences like the tread and harvest of the grape, go in the summer months, which is the period of the harvest, the season of the grape harvest.
