The Earth of the oldest dinosaurs in the world is a small town of just over 2.3 thousand inhabitants surrounded by hills and pine forests located in the heart of the Rio Grande do Sul. St. John of the Polêsine won this title because it is the place where the oldest fossils in the world were discovered, with more than 230 million year.
On the tour of the "First Land of Dinosaurs", you will discover the history of the first inhabitants of the Earth by visiting the Paleontological Research Support Center of the Fourth Colony/Federal University of Santa Maria (CAPPA/UFSM).
On the guided tour by paleontologists, the visitor has the unique opportunity to see close fossils of basal dinosaurs, cynodonts, dicinodonts and rincosaurus of perine. O, tour ends in the Central Square of São João do Polêsine, where you can make pictures with the dinosaur replicas and immerse even more in the prehistoric atmosphere.
Service hours:
The Paleontological Research Support Center of the Fourth Colony runs from Monday to Sunday, from 9am to 11h30am and from 13h30am to 16h30. The guided tour lasts an average of 30 minutes to an hour. At most, 25 people are served at a time. Weekend visits need to be scheduled in advance.
