Garibaldi is one of the three cities that are part of the Vale dos Vinhedos, known as the national capital of the sparkling winery is a reference in the production of this and houses several wineries worth visiting, as well as classic restaurants of Serra Gaúcha.

The dam tour, located on the Maria Fumaça route, is surrounded by natural paths and ample spaces. In addition to its scenic beauty, it was highlighted as one of the locations of the film "The Film of My Life" (directed by Selton Mello, 2017), consolidating itself as part of the Film Route. This route includes several locations used in audiovisual productions, a sector that strengthened itself in the city with the creation of the Garibaldi Film Commission in 2013.

The first Brazilian sparkling

The city of Garibaldi is home to the production of the first Brazilian sparkling wine, elaborated in 1913 by the immigrant Manoel Peterlongo. Two years later, the Peterlongo Winery was created, starting the history of the sparkling wine in Brazil. Coming from the Tyrol region in northern Italy, the Peterlongo family produced the only champagne prepared in Brazil.

How to get there

Leaving Porto Alegre, the route takes on average 2h by car. By bus, tickets can be purchased directly on the road of the capital.

  • Getting out of Gramado by car, the route takes about 1h40;
  • There is no direct bus from Gramado to Garibaldi;
  • Getting out of Bento Gonçalves by car, the route takes about 20 minutes.

When I go

The city follows the well-marked stations of Rio Grande do Sul. In the spring and summer it is time to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Serra Gaúcha, to watch the sunset and see the parreirais full of grapes of the vintage season.

In autumn and winter the bucolic landscape takes care of the vineyards, with dry leaves fallen on the ground, the traditional cold of the Serra Gaúcha, known by all and perfect for wine tastings.
